Withdrawing from Bybit to another exchange: tags, address rotation and confirmation checks

Sending crypto from Bybit to a different exchange adds risks that wallet transfers do not have: memo or tag fields, changing deposit addresses and suspended networks. Here is a checklist for each.

Moving coins from Bybit to a personal wallet is one thing. Sending them to another exchange is subtly harder. Many exchanges use shared deposit addresses that require a memo or tag to know which customer to credit, some rotate deposit addresses, and networks are sometimes suspended on one side but not the other. Each of these can leave a deposit stuck for days. A few checks on both screens prevent nearly all of it.

Copy fresh details from the receiving exchange

Open the deposit page on the receiving exchange every time, choose the coin and network, and copy the address and any memo or tag it shows. Do not reuse an address from last month or from an old chat; some platforms change deposit addresses. Note whether the page warns that the network is under maintenance.

Fill every field on Bybit

In the Bybit app, go to Assets, choose Withdraw, select the coin and the same network. Paste the address, then look for the memo or tag field and paste that too if the receiving exchange showed one. Bybit displays the network fee and minimum for that network at that moment; read them there. If you saved the address in your whitelist earlier, check it still matches the fresh one.

Test, then confirm on both sides

For a new route, send a small amount first. Copy the transaction ID from the withdrawal record in Assets and check it in a block explorer: destination address, confirmations and, where visible, the memo. Wait until the receiving exchange credits it before sending the rest. If confirmations are complete but nothing arrives, contact the receiving exchange's support with the transaction ID and the memo you used.

Guard against pressure and lookalikes

Clipboard malware can swap addresses, so compare the first and last characters every time. Ignore anyone who contacts you claiming to be from either exchange and offering to fix a stuck deposit for a fee. Real support never asks for your password or authenticator codes.

If the deposit is stuck without a memo

If you forgot the memo or typed it wrongly, the funds have usually reached the receiving exchange's shared address but cannot be matched to you automatically. Do not send again. Open a ticket with the receiving exchange, giving the transaction ID, amount, coin, network and your account email, and follow their manual recovery process. Some platforms charge for this or take time, which is why filling the field correctly the first time matters so much.
